Lightning Whirlwind (WW) Barb Build

Hey guys, here’s my take on the Lightning WW Barb build. I have found it to be pretty effective so far and really like it. It does require some specific gear in order to be great, so keep that in mind.

You want a lot of % to Lightning skills damage and, ideally, you would want a Thunderfury and a Shard of Hate as the weapons. Also though if you don’t have those weapons a Fulminator and Odyn Son are great choices of weapons for this build as well. This build can scale up pretty well to higher Torment levels once you have some nice gear.

Build Breakdown

Build Notes

  • I like the extra dmg that comes from Rend with Bloodbath. For higher difficulty levels you can also switch to Rend with Blood Lust.
  • If having Fury problems can swap out Superstition to Animosity.
  • Can also switch out Rend for Weapon Throw with the Lightning rune for even more Fury regen if needed.
  • I usually keep Wrath and Earthquake to kill elite packs quickly.
  • Use Overpower as much as possible. Doesn’t cost any Fury and CD is reduced when you get Crit Hits.

That’s pretty much all there is to this build. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube videos and come hang out with me on the stream.

Major Rift and Gambling Loot Hotfix

Hey guys, this hotfix went live last night. It really is a major change to the way we are going to farm for legendaries. There is a whole huge explanation why from Blizzard. The main running reason behind it is they want players to do rifts as the end game in Diablo 3 RoS.

So, they decided to increase the legendary drop rate in rifts by 100% and they even decided to buff the legendary drop rate for Kadala even more than that. That’s good and all but there were a lot of other not so good changes as well. One of those being chests are going to be rare. Not super rare but not farmable either. They also buffed the drops from chests a bit to counter-act that. So, if you see a chest now make sure to open it.

Blizzard also nerfed the Unique monsters (purple-named monsters) you find in the game to be on the same drop table as champions and elite packs. They won’t drop as much loot anymore.

So, for now, the best way to farm for legendaries is to:

  • Run rifts.
  • Gamble your blood shards.

I think this is a pretty good change and actually makes blood shards kinda rewarding instead of just being there. Anyway, don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube videos and come check out my stream on Twitch!

Diablo 3 RoS Patch 2.0.4 Changes – Buffs and Nerfs

Instead of doing a copy pasta of the most current patch notes for patch 2.0.4, I did a video going over some of the bigger buffs and nerfs. This should give you a brief breakdown of what to expect with the new patch.

I am wanting to do more videos like this one when patches hit as a way to let you know which videos that I’ve done in the past no longer work. Don’t worry though, I will update those specific blog posts to let you know when they are no longer effective.

Here’s a link to the official 2.0.4 patch notes: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/13532431/patch-204-now-live-4-8-2014

Here’s a quick rundown of the buffs and nerfs of patch 2.0.4.

D3 RoS Hell Rift Bounty Powerleveling Run

Here’s an awesome powerleveling method that can help get you some major levels. It does require a couple of people to do, preferably a lvl 70 friend. This is probably one of the fastest powerleveling methods out there.

Yes, I do realize in the video we do have the 50% community xp buff live. Even without the xp buff this is probably one of the best.

Hell Rift Bounty Run Breakdown

  • Needs a couple of people. Preferably one lvl 70 to boost the lower level character.
  • Have the lower level player make a Torment VI Adventure Mode game.
  • Looking for the Clear the Hell Rift bounty in Act 5. There are 3 different possibilities of bounties here: Clear the Hell Rift, Kill Hammermash, or Kill Sledge. It does require going in and out of games until you get the Clear the Hell Rift bounty.
  • Was able to get my friend from lvl 2 to lvl 14 in one run.

Alright, that pretty much sums it up. Make sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel and feel free to come hang out with me on Twitch!

Act 1 Safe Hardcore Powerleveling Method

The other day I did a video showing the Act III event farming area for experience. It was pretty popular and just brought one question to mind that I couldn’t find the answer to. Where could someone do the same type of powerleveling on hardcore?

Well, I found this spot today. It’s safer than safe and all you do is turn in a quest. It doesn’t involve fighting monsters, or heck…you don’t even see a monster at all the whole time (the setup doesn’t even have a monster).

Yes, like the other area we are depending on an event to spawn so this can get kinda boring. I recommend you have some friends come along and help you out. Fire it up on Torment VI and go. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Run Breakdown

  • Start on Act 1 Trailing the Coven quest. Take the waypoint to Wortham Chapel and run until you get the checkpoint right before entering the spider cave.
  • From there every game you will have to run backwards a bit to see if the vendor with the cart spawned. If he did grab the quest and turn it in to the hermit next to the spider cave entrance.
  • Having friends help find a game where the cart spawned is a great way to speed it up a lot.

Whirlwind Avalanche Barbarian Build

Here’s the WW/Avalanche build I’ve been using on my Barbarian for a few days now. I like it as it can kill elite packs on Torment 1 pretty quickly and can also be useful on single targets (bosses) without getting Fury starved. That was the problem I kept running into with my last WW build. Anyway, try it out and let me know what you think.

Build Breakdown

Build Link: http://us.battle.net/d3/en/calculator/barbarian#chPRkl!ihSj!cYZaZa

Build Notes

  • War Cry with Charge rune is mainly there as a Fury generator. The 50 Fury you can gain from it is pretty nice.
  • I went back to Rend with Bloodbath as I don’t really need the extra healing from Blood Lust rune anymore.
  • Earthen Might is another nice way to get more Fury.
  • If you want more speed, you could take out Battle Rage or even War Cry and go with Sprint. That is really nice for low difficulty bounty farming.
  • Paragon Points placement: Under Core, Movement Speed as needed to hit max (25%), then Maximum Fury. Under Offense, Critical Hit Chance, then Critical Hit Damage. Under Defense, All Resist, then Life Regeneration. Under Utility, Life on Hit, then Area Damage.

Manglemaw Runs For Legendaries

UPDATE: This run has been nerfed as of 4/8/14 with patch 2.0.4.

Hey guys, I’ve seen a lot of people talking about the Manglemaw runs and how good they were. I was a bit skeptical but after an hour of farming him I was able to get 3 legendaries to drop.

I know, I know….an hour isn’t really a good indicator of a good spot or not.

I still felt like this was good to share with you guys. So, here it is. Try it out and let me know how you do farming here for legendaries.

Manglemaw Runs Breakdown

  • Start on Act 1 A Shattered Crown, Open the Northwest Gate.
  • These runs require a bit of setup, so start at the quest above and run through to the Cemetary and until you find Defiled Crypt Level 2.
  • Once you get there and Manglemaw busts through the door, don’t kill him but click on the door so you get the checkpoint.
  • Once you got the checkpoint you can kill him, go to town and leave the game. Rinse and repeat.
  • I recommend doing this on the highest Torment level you can.
  • Make sure you don’t have Firewalkers on or anything that would destroy the door before Manglemaw comes through it.

That’s pretty much all there is to it. A group of friends and a super fast Torment 6 kill is ideal for this. For my 3 legendaries in an hour though I only did it on Torment 3. Do what you can and still kill him quickly and easily. Give it a shot and let me know how you guys do. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and come check me out on Twitch!

D3 RoS List of Torment Only Legendaries

Since the last list has become so popular and useful to people I decided to get together a new one containing all the Torment difficulty Legendaries that can drop. Like the other list you can hover over the name and see the item stats.

I do have a couple of sets that exist but couldn’t find them in the game guide so I just have the set names listed. Hopefully this can help you decide if you should farm on Torment or not.

Update #2 For My Lvl70 Barbarian

Hey guys, it’s only been a few days since the first update I did for my Barbarian but a ton of stuff has changed since then. I feel like I still really need to optimize his gear even more, but like always this is a work in progress. 🙂

Some key changes I’ve done:

  • Got rid of the 2-hander for 2 1-handers. I did this basically for the extra socket for more Critical Hit Damage.
  • Did gamble a few rings and then rerolled them to take advantage of Crit Hit Dmg and Crit Hit Chance.
  • Dropped War Cry for Avalanche with the Volcano rune.
  • Changed Battle Cry rune from Into the Fray to Marauder’s Rage since I feel like my Crit Hit Chance is in a good place.
  • Lvl 70 IK Helm dropped! Rerolled the socket into 6% Crit Hit Chance (on my 2nd reroll).

Check out the video and hopefully it will help you out with your Barbarian. Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel and feel free to come hang out with me on Twitch!
