Act 1 Inferno Farming – How To Get The Most Out of Butcher Farming Runs

I have been doing Warden/Butcher runs for awhile now on Inferno. I have got it almost down to just 30 minutes each run with minimal deaths. This guide is to show you exactly how I do these runs with my Demon Hunter.

First off, make sure you setup a game on the quest Imprisoned Angel at the Cursed Hold portion of the quest. That is the basic pivot point of the runs.

Once in-game if you can afford to wear any Magic Find gear, then put it on and go with it. Remember you want speed, so anything that slows down your damage you may not want to wear. In the video above you can see that I only have 53% Magic Find starting out. That’s the most I want to wear because wearing any more really starts to slow me down a bit. Yes, I need to upgrade my Magic Find gear a bit. lol

Read on for the build I use and notes about the run…

High Crit Demon Hunter Build Guide AKA Glass Cannon Build

PATCH 1.0.3 UPDATE: With the nerf of Attack Speed and the Nether Tentacles in patch 1.0.3 there are a few things I would change up with this spec. The first thing is to use Elemental Arrow with Ball Lightning in place of NT. The other thing is to not worry about getting tons of Attack Speed. It is still good, but far less of it is available on gear. Now I would focus more on Critical Hit Chance and Damage along with Dexterity.

One of the most popular builds for Demon Hunters currently is the High Critical Damage build. Everybody, it seems, uses this or a variation. Here’s my take on this popular build.

This build is really for those players who love to not get hit AT ALL. With this build if you get hit (and don’t have a lucky Dodge) you will die. It really is the ultimate take on a “glass cannon”. You can really dish out the damage, but have no survivability at all.

This build is NOT hardcore friendly (unless you are feeling extra crazy). The basis of the build is getting your critical hits extremely high and pretty much one shotting everything before they one shot you. Read on for the build and my notes on it.

Diablo 3 Hotfix June 9th – Good Bye Sweet Pots Full O’ Money

Blizzard did a small hotfix today that fixed a couple different things. One of the major things was reducing the amount of gold that is dropped in Act 1 pots of ashes and Act 4 vases. This pretty much makes the Act 1 Inferno Royal Crypts gold farming useless now.

It also puts a huge damper on the Act 4 Inferno Vase farming (although that really was about getting chests and items more than gold), so that is probably still do-able from a pure MF standpoint.

Here’s the complete list straight from the horse’s mouth.

General

  • In cooperative games, monster damage will no longer increase when additional players join the game. Please note that monster health will still scale based on the number of players in a party.

Bug Fixes

  • Tyrael no longer has collision when he is your active follower
  • Pots of ashes in Act I and vases in Act IV will now drop less gold when destroyed
  • Fixed a bug where players could turn in the same quest repeatedly and always receive rewards as though they were completing the quest for the first time

How I Kill The Skeleton King Solo Inferno

Thought I would put together a little video walking you through how I kill the Skeleton King on Inferno. If you are having problems killing him as a Demon Hunter then here are a few things that helped me kill him the first few times.

Wear a shield. I’m not kidding. It does seem funny but having a shield on those first few kills really helped a lot because it prevented SK from one shotting me. I used it until I could take a hit without getting one shot. Practice, practice, practice.

The other thing that helped was being able to time his teleport swing. When you start seeing him teleport hit Smoke Screen and that’ll protect you. You have to time it right since you really only have a second. You can also sometimes run away from it but I prefer to use Smoke Screen.

Still having trouble? Then it’s time to go farm some items or buy from the AH. It shouldn’t take a long time to get some nice items to help you along. The Cemetery is a great place to start farming at since it is full of elite packs. If you are still stuck with that then Sarkoth runs will be what you need.

Diablo 3 Patch 1.0.3 Preview – Inferno Nerf Inc, Crafting Costs Down and Repair Costs Up

UPDATE: Patch 1.0.3 is going live today 6/19! Maintenance today from 3:00am PDT to 1:00 PDT.

Blizzard just put out a preview of what we can expect to see in the next patch (1.0.3). They are changing a lot especially when it comes to the end-game. Inferno will be seeing a difficulty nerf in Acts 2-4.

The drop rates on lvl 61-63 items will be increasing in late Hell and Inferno. Stop crafting until this patch hits as it will reduce the costs of crafting with the blacksmith and jeweler. With all this good news comes some bad….the repair costs at level 60 will be going up. Blizzard doesn’t like the “graveyard zerging” against elite monster packs and wants to make the repair costs important to keep in mind.

Lots of good stuff going on and if you want more details feel free to follow after the break for a full list of changes.

Act 2 Nightmare AFK Gold Farming Spot For Demon Hunters

UPDATE: This has been nerfed. The mobs that spawn no longer drop loot.

I saw this on YouTube and thought it was a interesting way to make some gold while you are AFK. Now, this isn’t a totally AFK method, can’t rely on it for 12 hours straight or more, but it really is nice if you want to farm some gold while doing other things for a few hours.

It’s not fantastic gold per hour but every little bit helps when you are away. Diablo Pablo only had 90% gold find when he did this video (40k gold per hour) and I’m sure a nice increase in gold find (200%+) will make it pay off much better for you.

This is a pretty specific strategy for making gold and it requires the Demon Hunter’s use of his Ferret companions (sorry other classes). They are the ones that do pretty much all the work picking up gold.

Like I said earlier, you will want to check in on the game every once in awhile to repair your gear and pick up some items that dropped. Overall, a pretty interesting way to make gold that I would have never thought of myself.

Thanks Diablo Pablo for sharing this!

Act 1 Inferno Royal Crypts Farming – Make Around 300k Gold Per Hour

UPDATE 6/9/12: Blizzard has nerfed the amount of gold that drops from pots of ashes in Act 1. Hearing from a lot of players that it really is bad. Some players not able to make more than 50-80k at this spot per hour. Another one bites the dust!

I put together a video walking you through one of the great ways to make anywhere from 200k-400k per hour in Inferno. The best part of this is that you don’t really need all that much “good” gear, just gold find gear. You hardly encounter any mobs and the ones that you do are just basic skeletons.

Right now I am at 216% GF and can make around 300k per hour in this location with the occasional rares, blues, tomes, and even health potions. 🙂 Rares don’t happen very often at all from breaking pots, but was able to get a nice one in the video.

Watch the video for all the details of this spot. I figured it would be easier to show you in the video than trying to type it all out.

I Killed Jay Wilson In The Development Hell Secret Level

Servers came back up and was able to play. I decided on doing some Inferno Skeleton King runs and grabbing some stacks of the Valor buff in the Cemetery. Little did I know that I would end up in the secret “Development Hell” level. It was interesting to say the least.

The mobs were all named after the different game developers that worked on Diablo 3. Working my way through the level I came upon Jay Wilson, killed him and got the achievement “Smash! Jay, Smash!”. Pretty funny.

Since I have never heard of this level before I did jump and got Fraps running so you could see. It completely took me off guard but now I got a nice Feat of Strength achievement and a cool banner sigil. I only wished that Jay Wilson dropped something good. 🙂 Dang it Jay…give me the phat lootz!!! Continue reading to see the video.

World’s Fastest Inferno Butcher Kill

Wow! Athene is at it again. Like him or absolutely hate him he really drove this Butcher kill home. Before watching the video I half-expected some kind of shadiness going on for a kill that fast, but no…it was straight up and with his eyes closed. LOL

Got a couple of minutes? Give this video a quick watch.

Act 3 Nightmare Farming – How I Make 200k Gold An Hour

Thought I would do a post and share how I’ve been making 200,000 gold in an hour on Nightmare difficulty. The beauty of this is you don’t have to be in Inferno trying to farm out gold running the same small strip over and over again. This is especially great for new level 60 players that really don’t have a ton of gold yet. I believe this works even better if you have a Demon Hunter, but with it being in Nightmare difficulty any class should be able to farm 200k gold an hour.

This is pretty simple and I am going to share my build, GF stats, and strategy just after the break.
